Aria’s first flight with Emile teaching her (a character I want to keep secret for the time being). I thought this scene was cute, and I wanted to get the idea out of my head. Also a practise on trying to create genuine expression without having to resort to the usual anime/manga emoticons.
Sorry for the lack of updates, so much has been happening. I’m on holiday in the US, and learning to draw on my brother’s tablet and on my recent laptop is a bit disorienting, so the quality of the sketches may be a little weird until then.
I have not forgotten about the requests I’ve received, I’ll work on them as soon as I figure this out; it’s not the same as my dear desktop back home haha.
Thought I’d make a illustrated journal about this tweet I made.
Encountered a White Tail spider on a 4:00am visit to the bathroom, and I caught and set him free outside the house.
I named him Superman for the three short hours I had him in a container because he became more active when I brought him into the sunlight.
Miss the little guy already ;-;
Can you draw lily Collins??
Ah, sure. I’ll be busy this week, but I’ll get to it as soon as I can. She looks lovely!
Sunday Shenanigans with Chii.
Concerned about a letter my friend sent me =n=
From top to bottom, left to right:
1. Profile practise
2. Shana from Shakugan no Shana
3. Penny from GTA Online
4. My OC Kale (my lame attempt at a comic book/realistic style)
Trying out a couple of new things for sketch a day. Today was a lineweight exercise for me to try out some techniques I learnt from Scott Robertson’s videos. He’s a very talented artist with so much good advice, so check out his work!
Alongside that, it was also an exercise in getting form down in the least amount of lines as possible. I know it’s not obvious now since I added the lineart, but these were drawn lightly and
somewhat more precisely so I could get most of the information down. Aside from the construction lines that I erased, these sketches have remained mostly the same
I’m doing this since I’ve found that if I attempt to sketch a pose the way I usually do, I have too many lines to decide on, creating sloped faces, confusion on what should be the edge of a face, or figuring out what’s what since the lines formed a mess which leads to spending more time than I should on a picture. This method is similar and better resembles my style when I draw traditionally. My lack of hand eye coordination on the tablet forced this bad habit out of me. Kind of explains why my traditional style does not look identical to my digital work a lot of the time.
Seeing what happens if I change to a format like this. Rather than having just one sketch, having multiple to make a sketch page. It seems to be turning out well since I didn’t feel as much pressure to choose characters or try to make them perfect.
Sorry for the long post, it’s mostly a note for me. Opinions on this would be appreciated, though!
Ellin in her Bar Bar Bar outfit from Crayon Pop
Decided on her “angry” expression because it looks adorably funny.
The group will be making a promotional visit to Australia next week! So I thought I’d draw my favourite to celebrate. I hope there’s a signing day so I can go and meet them (even though I don’t know Korean welp).
Had to fight against this picture, so it looks a little crazy and I’m let down that I couldn’t do her pretty face justice.
Side note: sketch a day posts may fluctuate because I have tests this week and next week
Tsubasa Hanekawa from the Monogatari series
Belated birthday present for a good friend.
Thank you for being my friend for the past two years and a bit, the fun times, putting up with my shenanigans and being just a lively person to be around; it definitely cheers me up to be in your presence because of your enthusiasm for all that you do. I would say the punches were uncalled for but that would be a lie, haha~! I owe a lot to you and I’m glad to have met you!!
Penny from GTA Online
She got a bit of a change from last time, so I thought I draw her again.
